This affiliate disclosure explains how the site is paid for. Apartment Cats is free to read, and some of the links to products in our guides are affiliate links: if you buy after following one, the store pays us a small commission, and your price stays the same.
As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.
The programs we belong to
Today there is one: the Amazon Associates program in the United States. If we join another store’s program, it is named here before its first link appears on any page, with the date we joined.
How affiliate links are marked
- Every page with affiliate links carries a one-line affiliate disclosure above the first of them, linking here.
- The footer of every page repeats the Amazon Associates statement.
- In the page code, each affiliate link is tagged as sponsored, so search engines know it too.
- Hub pages, tool pages, printables and these trust pages carry no affiliate links at all.
What the money never decides
Which product comes first on a page. The top pick is the one that best answers that page’s question on published specs, size, price, stock and return terms, and the reason is written down when the page is made; commission rates are not part of it. No maker pays to appear in a guide or to move up one, and we accept no free products in exchange for coverage.
We also do not test products, so you will never see a commission-earning link next to a claim that we used the thing. Every product page carries a “Researched, not tested” label, explained on How we research.
Prices and ratings from Amazon
Amazon’s rules for its Associates limit what we may show. You will not see star ratings, review counts or Amazon badges on this site. A product price appears only when it comes straight from Amazon with the time it was fetched; otherwise the link simply says to check the price at Amazon, where the current one is.
Questions about a link or a pick are welcome through the contact page.
